We got the shakshuka, big breakfasts and drip coffee, all were delicious! We got the sourdough cinnamon roll for the table, it was huge! Couldn't finish it even with 4 of us. There must've been a mix up in our orders because two of us got our orders pretty quick and our friends got theirs almost 20 minutes after despite ordering right before us. :( 1 and 2 hour meter parking available or if you're lucky free neighborhood parking. Best to come in the morning. We came at 10am with plenty of outside seating but it was crowded by noon. Im happy I found another great breakfast spot in the area!
Phenomenal breakfast location on the west side with a great variety of dishes centered around their bread. With it being in the name, you would hope that they do it well and I promise that you won't be disappointed with the quality that you get here. We were not disappointed with anything that we ordered as they were all independently full of flavor. Their vanilla lattes are sweeter than most but i generally like them sweeter. I ordered the shashouka which was a good size and they gave enough bread to go with the dish. One of my favorites I've had in Los Angeles. We split the ricotta and jam toast which was kind of a buttery jam. It was the perfect side to our meal. Highly recommend and will be back again to try what else they have!
Excellent dishes and excellent baked goods. Sadly, the only reason I removed a star is because of the chaotic ambience. During lunch hours, lines are very long, and a bit disorganized, so you can't tell who's ordering and who's waiting for seats and it feels very crowded. Ambience is part of the rating system, so I want to be fully transparent about the experience. if you consider it a dining adventure, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend for the bakery, the dishes (shakshusha- yummm), and friendly service. Twice when I came here, they were so busy that they could not take any orders. Outdoor seating is adequate but feels too close to busy Washington Blvd- it seems to add to the crowded feeling. Get ready to park in the street after driving around the block to find your spot. Do I recommend? You bet I do! Maybe after the next visitor put that star back in if they expand or figure out a way to manage that line inside
I live down the street and my mom and I have been dying to try this place. I always drive past it and it's always packed. Well this morning on my way home from dropping my son off, I finally stopped by. They open at 8 and I was there around 8:03. I was the only customer. I open the door and am immediately engulfed in the smell of baking bread. It was heavenly. Then was greeted by almost every employee. The staff were super nice and friendly. I went in with the intention of ordering 6 cinnamon rolls unaware of the size. I am a mom of two growing boys so I thought getting multiple is the best bet so they can have one for their breakfast tomorrow. Oh man did I underestimate the size. One cinnamon roll is about the size of my head. It comes in a pastry box just big enough for the cinnamon roll. They don't frost it. Instead they give you a tub of frosting. Leaving without trying their pizza hurt. But it was 8am and now I have an excuse to go back.
We got some street parking behind the restaurant The girl behind the counter was quite disinterested with providing us suggestions. So We ordered the Bread w jam and ricotta, shaks hula and a Vanilla latte w almond milk The shakshuka was just ok. But the bread with ricotta was like wow!! Who knew such a simple thing would be so tasty. Note, The place doesn't have too many tables
Solid bread, with the perfect crisp and chewiness expected of a freshly-baked loaf. My partner and I got the Lox toast and mushroom pizza, both with great bread serving as vessels for the rest of the ingredients. Lox toast was piled high with lox, capers, and onions, as well as cherry tomatoes, which were sweet, but I think they were good without. Mushroom pizza was very cheesy with a lovely, sharp bite; however, there wasn't much taste or texture to the mushrooms, which are supposed to be the star of the show. Overall, well-made bread, but I'll have to try the other toasts and pizzas to see if they're better!
On my quest to find the perfect bread in West LA, I came to Lodge. A number of restaurants serve dishes/sandwiches using their bread, so I had high expectations. I grabbed a Jerusalem bagel and citrus and olive loaf and they are *chefs kiss*. I am the HUGEST sesame bagel fan and the Jersusalem bagel is essentially a huge, oblong sesame bagel--even better, it is a SOURDOUGH bagel. I could not resist tearing a piece off in the car and eating it like a feral animal. Purchasing and eating this chewy, sesame ring of magic was honestly the highlight of my week. The citrus and olive loaf is also killer. It's covered in crunchy, toasty millet and is studded with juicy, briny kalamata olives. The citrus also shines through (I'm guessing there was citrus zest or olive oil in the equation); I've never had bread quite like this one. I was tempted to have brunch there but convinced myself to save $20 bucks since I'd already done some damage at the Mar Vista farmer's market. They also have a great-looking pastry case with a comically enormous cinnamon bun that I will be thinking about for the next week.
As a confirmed bread enthusiast, I'm always on the hunt for the perfect loaf. So, when my taste buds caught wind of Lodge Bread, I knew I had to investigate. Let me tell you, folks, this bakery isn't just another knead-y-place - it's a bread lover's sanctuary! Lodge Bread isn't just about the bread cuz their menu is packed with delicious creations. I ordered the Big Breakfast with a generous slice of Lodge Bread's signature sourdough, two sunny side up eggs, roasted fingerling potatoes, sausage, and arugula salad. I also had a brioche bun that's fluffy and airy, it practically melts in your mouth. What truly elevates Lodge Bread is the atmosphere with rustic wooden tables, cozy lighting, and shelves overflowing with beautiful loaves in every shape and size. The staff is friendly and welcoming, always happy to chat about their bread or recommend something delicious. Lodge Bread is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates good food, good company, and the simple pleasure of a perfectly baked loaf of bread. It's a slice of heaven, and I can't wait to go back for another bite (or two, or three).
During my visit to LA, I met up with three people for brunch at Lodge Bread. Here are four things that stood out: 1.) Everyone was able to find street parking out front or close by pretty easily. 2.) All the food was legit! We split a couple items as a group (in addition to getting our own individual meals), and one person in the group was vegan. So, I was extremely impressed that their food was good enough to satisfy everyone in our culturally and dietarily diverse group. 3.) Friendly service and great ambiance. We were able to grab a picnic table right in front of the restaurant, and it was the perfect place to while away a couple hours, on a more laidback street without the incessant buzz of city life. 4.) Is their cinnamon roll in the Guinness Book of World Records?!?!? Lol. We split one between the four of us and still had some leftover.
